Untitled Poem

This poem is part of a series written by women living with HIV and AIDS in Central Texas.

In the light of shame + humiliation
Robert has brought my entire family
a blissful salvation. I am forced to
do some swift thinking to keep my
daughter to engaging in full
Rihanna mode. That’s why I’m
currently sitting in Hummingbird
Circle. Trying to visualize Robert
actually being fitted for a
Tux instead of hanging out
with Lisa. I like the thought
of having a custom made gown
by Clara’s Sewing Shop.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the
idea of custom made clothes. I
would love it if I were in park.
